With an estimated 86,000 children living in foster homes, group settings, or with relatives, the state of California has the country's largest foster care population and has twenty (20) percent of the nation's total. The foster care population grows each year primarily because more children enter foster care than ever leave through family reunification or adoption. More than ever, foster resource families need to know what their rights and resonsibilities are.

The purpose of this website is to inform foster parents and relative caretakers about the legal and agency- related issues surrounding foster care and licensing. The Foster Parent Legal Resource Center is an interactive forum with an emphasis in preventative law, taking care of personal potential legal problems before they reach crisis proportions emotionally and financially.

The Foster Parent Legal Resource Center is a new site and is not yet as complete or as comprehensive as we hope it will become over the next several months. Your comments, ideas, and suggestions are welcome!
